Food Assignments for the Candy Cane Meet

November 30 – December 2, 2007

It’s finally time to host our first meet of the year!  On the next few pages you will find your food assignment for the meet.  This is the first of our three day meets that Shawmut depends on for income.  Each family will be expected to bring in their food on Friday night unless otherwise stated in the assignment next to your name.  If you are unclear about your assignment, call Monica Plotnik at 508-872-8634 or email me at  mplotnik828@aol.com . If you are unable to attend or are not working a particular session, please arrange to have someone else deliver your food.

Most of the assignments should cost you around $30. The bulk assignments have been priced at BJ’s Wholesale Club.  This is where you will find the quantities that I have assigned.  It is also the most cost effective.  I’ve done my best to make this equitable, but if I’ve given you an assignment that seems out of line (price wise) please let me know.  Please do not substitute or we will be short.  The meet is full so we need all the food assignments.

On Friday when you drop off your food donation at the snack bar, please make sure you check in and your name is crossed off of the donation list.  This is the only way to know that you’ve met your obligation since we have multiple families bringing in the same items.

Beverages - Gatorade should be the 20oz plastic bottles only.   Please try and get varieties that you think would sell - usually the green flavors don’t really sell.

Water should be the 16oz size only.

Pasta Salad – Please keep it as simple as possible.  Peas and carrots work well.  The kids seem to like it best with Italian dressing (They like the Fanny’s brand since it’s not too spicy).  If possible, please pack it in gallon size Ziploc bags.  Also, please dress the pasta on the lighter side so it doesn’t get too soggy.  We have extra dressing that the kids can put on it at the meet.

Monetary assignments – You can leave your check (made out to Shawmut Aquatic Club) for me in my folder at Keefe.  You do not have to send in a check prior to the meet, but it makes it less hectic for me not to have to deal with it while I’m setting up.  Please just make sure to hand me the check before (or at) your first work assignment.  I have assigned some families monetary assignments as we use this to pick up extra things that we run out of.

To the people assigned to bring a COOLER – It would be greatly appreciated if you could start us off with a bag or two of ice (if you can’t – it’s OK too).  It really takes a lot of leg work to fill all of the coolers with ice at Keefe so any help that we can get….!!

Please be sure to mark all of the Tupperware, griddles, crackpots and coolers that you bring to the meet with your name.

Once again, if I don’t get to thank each of you personally, please know that all of your help is greatly appreciated.  We are very fortunate to be able to run such an extensive snack bar and all of our guests really love it!
